VET630: Conservation Medicine

This unit aims to provide students with an understanding of fundamental issues associated with conservation medicine. The unit will explore a range of issues related to the interdisciplinary integration of veterinary medicine and conservation biology. Topics include: wildlife management, habitat protection, indigenous knowledge and community participation, integrated conservation and development projects, sustainable development, the role of institutions involved with wildlife conservation, the role of veterinarians in wildlife conservation efforts and the role of private practitioners in community conservation projects.

Prerequisites	Enrolment in Master of Veterinary Studies in Conservation Medicine, Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Conservation Medicine or permission of the Program Chair. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
