| Unit Description: | Consider how law and religion interact with each other in history and in present-day society. Particular attention is given to how religion formed law codes in ancient Middle Eastern civilisations; how Christianity and law interacted in western civilisation; and how law and religion play a central role in various religious traditions in present-day western society, including Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Lectures cover a diversity of viewpoints and students are encouraged to pursue their own research topics in this area. |
