| Unit Description: | This unit introduces the Australian legal framework for land use planning and environmental management. International case studies of planning law are also included. Relevant planning statutes, associated legislation and the role of relevant statutory bodies responsible for planning, environmental control and sustainable development are examined. The unit explains how planning objectives are implemented through strategic plans, region schemes, town planning schemes and development controls, and provides knowledge and skills in the administrative law of strategic planning and statutory-based development assessment. |
