PSY351: Psychology: Biological Bases of Behaviour

This unit introduces students to the biological foundations of human behaviour. Topics include the organisation and function of the nervous system, the physiological basis of sensory experiences and movement, the psychophysiology of motivational states such as sleep, temperature and eating, and the biological basis of learning and memory. Biological influences on emotion and psychopathology will also be addressed, with particular emphasis on the impact of negative emotions on health.

Prerequisites	PSY173 Introduction to Psychological Research Methods AND PSY212 Psychology: Measurement, Design and Analysis.
Exclusions	Students who have successfully completed PSY314 Psychology of Motivation and Emotion may not enrol in this unit for credit.
Notes	PSY211 Psychological Methods I and PSY212 Psychological Methods II may be substituted for the prerequisites, respectively.
