| Unit Description: | This unit focuses on the threats of terrorism in a world that is globalised, paying special attention to the relationship between terrorism and the revolution in transport and communications that underpins globalisation. After examining how the media portrays terrorism, it analyses 'war on terror' in relation to nationalism, international order, the UN, and the values of global governance. It finally examines four case studies: Northern Ireland, South-East Asia, the Middle East and the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. |
