POL239: Australian Foreign Policy

This unit aims to produce a critical understanding of the multiple influences in Australia's external relations, particularly in the period since the Second World War. The guiding question for the unit is: What are, and what have been, the constraints and choices in Australian foreign policy? Theory: What factors determine or explain the behaviour of actors in international politics? History: What is the record of Australia's post-war international involvement? Policy: What are the central issues facing contemporary decision-makers?
