| Unit Description: | Study some of the modern world's influential freedom fighters and the struggles in which they were engaged (abolition of slavery, national struggles for liberation from foreign occupation, colonial struggles for self-determination, peoples' struggles for liberation from unjust regimes, and the fight for civil rights and equality). Examine various means of struggle (passive non-resistance/civil disobedience, legal remedies and political negotiations, and guerilla warfare and terrorism). Biographical case studies highlight the role of individuals in the making of history. |
