EDU275: Mathematics and the Curriculum (Secondary)
This unit aims to assist the student teacher to develop competency with the planning and implementation skills associated with the teaching of a program of secondary mathematics. It is directed towards the development of the mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities of adolescents. This unit is not a mathematics unit -- rather, it is about teaching mathematics.

| Prerequisites | Enrolment in a teacher education course [either BEd (Secondary) or BEd (Secondary) (Graduate) or GradDipEd (Primary) or GradDipEd (Secondary)] or GradCertMathTeach].
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

| Notes | Completion or near completion of a major in Mathematics.
Students must have completed or currently be enrolled in EDU3161 School Experience: Secondary BEd for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary).
Students should be enrolled in BEd(Secondary)/BSc (Mathematics and Statistics)
OR BEd (Secondary) (Graduate with Mathematics degree) and enrolled in EDU3161 School Experience: Secondary BEd for students taking this unit (EDU275) as a curriculum major.
OR
Enrolment in EDU3162 School Experience: Secondary BEd for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and taking EDU2751 as a curriculum minor
OR
Enrolment in EDU2162 School Experience: Secondary GradDipEd for students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) as a curriculum major (EDU275) or minor (EDU2751).
