EDU273: Society and Environment Curriculum (Secondary)

This unit encourages students to develop a critical understanding of the principles and practices of teaching and learning in Society and Environment (S&E) in WA secondary schools. Particular attention is given to the construction of S&E curricula within the context of the WA Curriculum Framework and the various ways in which student learning outcomes may be developed, monitored and assessed.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in a teacher education course [either BEd (Secondary) or BEd (Secondary) (Graduate) or GradDipEd (Primary) or GradDipEd (Secondary)], AND successful completion of EDU101/EDU1011 Introduction to Teaching.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Notes

EDU273: completion or near completion, of a major in the Social Sciences or its equivalent and enrolment in EDU3161 School Experience: Secondary BEd for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary).
EDU2731: at least 4 points at Part II-level in the Social Sciences or its equivalent and enrolment in either EDU3162 School Experience: Secondary BEd for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or EDU2162 School Experience: Secondary GradDipEd for students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary).
