EDU2401: Facilitating Lifelong Learning

Promotes an understanding of what facilitates adult and lifelong learning in education and work. Students develop knowledge and skills for reflective professional practice and action research. Cognitive and sociocultural approaches to understanding learning and motivation are introduced as the conceptual basis for designing effective instruction, mentoring, team work, course evaluation and assessment of learning. Case studies of innovative teaching/learning or assessment practices are examined. In the 6-point version, students also focus on their professional development as adult educators.

Contact Time	Internal: Lectures/seminars: 3 hours per week for 12 weeks. External: No attendance required. Some on-campus meetings will usually be available.
Prerequisites	Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Notes	Students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary and Adult Education or the Graduate Diploma in Education (Tertiary and Adult) must enrol in the 6-point version of this unit.
