EDU2162: School Experience: Secondary GradDipEd

Students undertake a two week block of school-based experience in their minor curriculum area. This is an opportunity to try a variety of techniques and approaches in a classroom context under the guidance of a Murdoch University Supervisor. Students must complete the required preparation to be eligible for placement in schools. Students enrolled in required curriculum units externally must complete school experience in the Perth metropolitan area.

Contact time: 2 weeks full time in a school.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) course and have successfully completed EDU101/EDU1011 Introduction to Teaching.
Students must have both a current Department of Education National Criminal History Record Check and a Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004 clearance from the Department of Community Development on file in the Murdoch University School Experience (MUSE) Office prior to commencement of this unit.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions

Students in the BEd(Secondary) course should not enrol in this unit but rather in either EDU3161 School Experience: Secondary BEd or EDU3162 School Experience: Secondary BEd as recommended in the course structure.

Notes

Students are required to enrol concurrently in the correct school experience unit relating to their core curriculum unit.
