EDU207: Primary Curriculum IIA

This unit has two strands: Strand A: the Arts and Technology and Enterprise; and, Strand B: Health and Physical Education. Strand A deals with the concept that the arts and technology are central to the expression and identity of all human societies, and Strand B examines the nature and importance of healthy activity in our society. The main focus will be defining and understanding these learning areas in the context of teaching and learning and the primary school curriculum.

Contact Time

Students are required to attend lectures and participate in workshops in both strands A and B.
External students are required to attend an on-campus intensive teaching week.
External students are also required to complete a self-devised study program equi

Prerequisites

Successful completion of EDU101/EDU1011 Introduction to Teaching AND EDU260 Learning Through the Arts, or enrolment in a graduate entry Bachelor of Education (Primary).
Students enrolled in BEd (Primary) before 2005 do not require EDU260. Other students must obtain written permission from the Unit Coordinator.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions

Students who have successfully completed EDU217 Primary Curriculum IIB (Arts, Health and PE) or E160 MultiArts and the Primary Curriculum may not enrol in this unit for credit.

Quota

This unit is subject to quota due to limited resources; quota applies to the Rockingham offering. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) at Rockingham campus.
