CHI585: Evidence-Based Practice (Not available in 2009)

Evidence-based practice (EBP) combines best scientific evidence, clinical experience and patient values. This unit provides an opportunity to refine the student's ability to perform literature searches, critically review the literature and apply the evidence derived to relevant clinical scenarios. The unit recognises that health care is individualised and ever changing and involves uncertainties and probabilities. Students learn that EBP involves complex and conscientious decision making. This unit uses the Internet heavily to source information partly in dedicated computer laboratories.

Prerequisites	Enrolment in BSc/BChiro and successful completion of Years 1 to 4 OR enrolment in the Bachelor of Sports Science and successful completion of Part I and CHI209 Clinical Biomechanics OR enrolment in the Master of Pharmacy or Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Health Science.
Quota	This unit is subject to quota. Chiropractic, Sports Science, Master of Pharmacy, and Pharmaceutical Health Science students will be given priority.
