BIO624: High-throughput Genetic Analysis (Not available in 2009)

Covers principles and techniques of high-throughput analysis, from sample collection to results analysis, including the use of microarrays, polymerase chain reaction, and protein-based methods for genetic analysis. Processes for automation of analysis include sample collection and processing, data capture, storage and handling, and principles for the simplification of techniques. Workshops include data input and analysis, assessing the potential of a diagnostic test for high-throughput analysis and its market viability, and presentation and defence of the student's conclusions.

Prerequisites	Enrolment in Master of Agricultural Biotechnology or permission of the Program Chair.
Exclusions	Students who have successfully completed BIO501 Techniques in Molecular Mapping for Diagnostic Biotechnology may not enrol in this unit for credit.
