BIO619: Molecular Mapping for Diagnostic Biotechnology (Not available in 2009)

Explore the latest molecular mapping techniques as applied to plant and animal breeding. The workshop will cover the use of genetic markers and the evaluation of technologies for generating them. The laboratory component will cover major molecular mapping techniques and detailed analyses of results obtained using the techniques. Students will be required to write a report that analyses solutions for associating specific markers to traits and will present the report at an informal meeting of experts in the field.

Enrolment in Master of Agricultural Biotechnology or permission of the Program Chair.

Exclusions

Students who have successfully completed BIO501 Techniques in Molecular Mapping for Diagnostic Biotechnology may not enrol in this unit for credit.
