Unit Description: Covers two major areas related to the psychology of legal practice. The first part provides an appreciation of the complex psychological processes which operate within the criminal justice system. Topics: interviewing witnesses, eyewitness testimony, interrogation, jury and judicial decision making and advocacy. The second component provides an understanding of criminal conduct. Topics: psychopathy, sex offending, violent offending and risk prediction. The unit has an applied focus, critically evaluating psychological research findings in terms of its implications for legal practice.
