Unit Description: This is an advanced unit in biochemistry with an emphasis on metabolic and cellular regulation and integration. Topics covered in the core modules include: regulation of enzyme activity and protein function; mechanism of action of hormones and growth factors; metabolic integration and tissue specialisation; cell proliferation and cancer. In addition, students will choose one of the following elective modules: nutritional biochemistry of vitamins and minerals; mammalian hormones; pharmacological and metabolic effects of plant-derived toxins.

MURDOCH: Semester 2, Internal
Contact Time: Lectures: 1 - 2 per week; workshops: 1 - 2 hours per week.
