| Unit Description: | This unit introduces the variety of mariculture (aquaculture) production technologies and methods for fish, crustaceans, molluscs and algae. Details covered include culture methods, life cycles, nutrition, breeding, processing, markets and environmental issues. Project work within the laboratory sessions complements the lecture material. |

| Contact Time: | Lectures: equivalent of 3 hours per week; laboratories: equivalent of 3 hours per week. Lectures and introductory practical classes for this unit will be held as an intensive 12 half day session during the inter-semester break between Semesters 1 and 2. Subsequent laboratory work will be conducted during Semester 2. All lectures and some project work will be held at the Fremantle Marine Science Centre. |
