BIO157: Introduction to Australian Biodiversity

This unit introduces students to the major groups of Australian plants and animals. In doing so it illustrates: the major characteristics of our unique flora and fauna; how their form is adapted to habitat; their relative importance in the ecology of Australia; their cultural significance; and the treats to their existence. The practicals concentrate on developing skills in identification of plants and animals, using examples from the biodiversity-rich regions of Western Australia.
